I love the kids who make me a Mom...
I became a Mom at 19...As I got older and had more children there were times I kind of felt like a failure in life because that's all I was...A Mom...Nothing more...Just a Mom.
This is a poem I remember reading years ago from some of the books I had from church, and I cannot remember who wrote it...I am just copying it from one of my old journals.
I have always loved it...It's a reminder of how great a job being a Mom is, how fulfilling, how rewarding...How there is nothing more I would want, or really need to be.
She came tonight as I sat alone
the girl that I use to be...
And she gazed at me with her earnest eye
and questioned reproachfully:
Have you forgotten the many plans
and hopes that I had for you?
The great career, the splendid fame
all wonderful things to do?
Where is the mansions of stately height
with all of it's gardens rare?
The silken robes that I dreamed for you
and the jewels for your hair?
And as she spoke, I was very sad,
for I wanted her pleased with me...
This slender girl from the shadowy past
the girl that I use to be.
So gently arising, I took her hand,
and guided her up the stair,
Where peacefully sleeping my babies lay
innocent, sweet and fair.
And I told her that they were my only gems
and precious they were to me;
That silken robe is my Motherhood
of costly simplicity.
And my mansion of stately height is love,
and the only career I know;
Is serving each day in these sheltering walls
for the dear ones that come and go.
And as I spoke to my shadowy guest,
she smiled through her tears at me;
And I saw that the woman that I am now
pleased the girl that I use to be.
My kids are always very sweet to me on Mothers day...The girls do all the chores...And pick me flowers from the fields...Ok, so they are weeds, but the girls think they are flowers and beautiful...So I think they are beautiful too. haha
I was noticing the other day as I was going through pictures...That every. single. picture. I have of Jordy, she has food on here face! lol...In the picture above she is displaying a lovely chocolate ice cream face!
The girls always make me cards...
This is a picture of me that Neleah drew...I think I look fabulous...And perhaps a tad pissed off, a pretty accurate portrait I must say :)
And the boys, well they give me hugs and say Happy Mothers Day...
And then they try to sell me a gift!
Ya, I'm not even kidding, the little jerks! They made these awesome tables in woodwork class...
Both did a great job on them...And both tried to sell me theirs!
*sigh*
Anyway, they both ended up letting me have them...Free of cost...
And I love them...They are great, for things like this...
Happy Mothers Day :)
