Today is world Down syndrome Day.
A day we celebrate people like Russell who are blessed with a tiny extra chromosome.
March, the third Month of the year, represents the third or "extra" chromosome.
And the 21st day representing the 21st chromosome.
3. 21. 2012.
And what makes this year extra special is that this is the first year that World Down syndrome Day is being officially recognized by the United Nations.
I have to say I was not going to post today...For some reason I just can't seem to find the right words.
And it seems like there are hundreds of other Moms who are all saying it a million times better than I ever could! I was in tears today reading through posts...All of them, simply beautiful.
To all my friends and family reading this if you have a minute visit some of the blogs on my sidebar...There were some pretty amazing posts today!
And all I want to say is that today I feel a tremendous amount of pride in my son.
And today I feel honored and proud to be a part of the Ds community.

ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying reading everyone's posts today too ... it is a blessing to be a part of this community. Happy World Down Syndrome Day!
ReplyDeleteI didn't post today either. I felt like I should, but I couldn't figure out what to say. I too feel like my life was blessed the day I was given Abbie. She is amazing and smart and beautiful....all of the things I knew my daughter would be. So glad that you write even if today you couldn't find the words. Most days, you are the words I could not put together.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elissa! I feel like this post is so half ass! lol...I honestly could not think what to write! I had many thoughts swirling around in my head...And today was actually quite emotional for me, so it was strange I couldn't find the right words...All I can say was today I felt so much pride in belonging to the Ds community. There were so many amazing post, it was just a really wonderful day full of celebrating our kids, I loved it!
