Pre-Spring Walks...

Spring is slowly coming...
And it's finally starting to warm up around here...A little...
Warm enough for short walks and bike rides...
Warm enough for first campfires of the year...
Warm enough for daily walks with my little guy.
Today we went out to see what Daddy was up to...He was just getting ready to go out back and check the calves...
Poor Russell is still terrified of horses...When Brad would come near he would run for me with his arms out yelling "Muh, Muh" That's how he says Ma'ma.
Then he would grab onto my leg and hold on tight...
He was happy when Daddy finally rode away...
So we continued on our walk, when all of the sudden we heard a horse and Russell froze dead in his tracks!
I walked him over to see the horse that was penned up...But even though it was behind a fence Russell wasn't having it...He can hold on pretty tight when he has to! You can see in his eyes how scared he is.

I put him up on the hay bale for a better look...
But when that horse came closer he was pretty scared...
So we gave up on trying to eliminate that fear and we moved on. My sister and Zane joined us on our walk.
Russell was having fun saying hi to his cousin...
When all of the sudden the horse neighed...Is that the right word??
And Russell got nervous and freaked out...At one point he tried to look for space in the buggy behind Zane!
Haha
It kind of sucks that Russell's two biggest fears happen to make up our entire Ranch...
Horses and Cows.
Brad brought an orphan calf by the house today for the kids to see...
Cute right?
If you are wondering why it has a blue streak on it's nose its what the cowboys do so that later when they ride back through the fields looking for it they can find the right calf. It's just kind of like tagging it.
So we thought maybe Russell would like to see the baby calf...
Nope...He clung onto his sister for dear life!
Wouldn't even go to his Dad!
Ah well...He will get over these fears eventually. He use to be terrified of dogs, now he loves them to death!
In fact tonight at dinner he tried to eat just like Jake...
Which the kids thought was hilarious!
Me...Not so much! What a mess!

  1. Liddy is scared to death of large crowds of people. We are part of a big, noisy family. The two don't always work well together but we keep trying, hoping someday she'll get over it. Keep trying mama. :)
Russell, even freaking out, is still one absolutely adorable kiddo!

  5. hahahaha I LOVE this post! Addison wants to come visit your ranch someday. (-: and Russell is absolutley cracking me up with his adorable scared faces. At least this is better than him showing no fear and running right under foot of large animals! lol.
